A typical city of the interior, with historical and cultural attractions draws the attention of residents and visitors. This is Vassouras, founded in 1782, which is 120 km from the capital of Rio de Janeiro and holds the title of Heritage City listed by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN).
The city got its name because its first industrial activity was the production of brooms and became well known economically in the state, by its coffee production, in the imperial period of Brazil. To this day, there are large farms of that time which main houses were transformed into tourist spots.
But the old buildings and their imposing and graceful facades scattered around the city are also enchanting, such as the old railway station, the City Council building, as well as the Mother Church of NS da Conceição and even a Cultural Center created in honor of the singer Cazuza.
But, if you want, you can still enjoy other attractions in the city, such as a route with horseback riding and, of course, the local cuisine, with a varied buffet, prepared in a good wood oven!
