The Security Department chairs the group to outline the strategic planning for the activities of the event

The Rio State government created the Logistics Committee for the Coordination of Operational and Security Activities for the G20, which brings together representatives of the departments to coordinate the security of the forum's events. The committee includes the departments of Security, Military Police, Civil Police, Civil Defense, Penitentiary Administration, Health, Transport and Urban Mobility, Tourism, Institutional Security and Undersecretariat of Events of the Governor's Office. The measure was published in the Official Gazette on 04/24.

Chaired by the Department of Security, the logistics committee will be responsible for strategic planning for G20 events and activities within the State of Rio de Janeiro.

- The Logistics Security Committee was established with the purpose of coordinating the efforts of the State's public security forces with the Department of Public Order of the City of Rio and with the Ministries of Justice, involving the Federal Police and Federal Highway Police, and Foreign Affairs. As the host state of the event, we are responsible for providing a smooth and safe event - explains the Secretary of Security, Victor Cesar dos Santos.

The secretary recalls the planning of major events is already in the DNA of the state security forces and since 2011, Rio has been hosting successive international events with positive results.

- Coordinating and integrating security actions is the main mission of the department. The way to materialize this mission is through the creation of this committee, where the agendas are discussed and the actions are deliberated. This shows the interest and priority of Governor Cláudio Castro in the success of the event, which will bring to the State great heads of government and state, ensuring to them total security during their stay here. I have no doubt that Rio de Janeiro will show Brazil and the world, once again, its ability to hold an event of this size, with tranquility, peace and security - evaluates the secretary.

The State Commission for the G20, chaired by the Secretary of State of the Governor's Office, Rodrigo Abel, foresees the creation of three thematic committees The other two committees will be set up soon: the engagement committee, which will work to mobilize schools, sports associations, clubs and civil society institutions; and the thematic committee, which will be responsible for planning events around the issues on the G20 agenda, such as combating hunger, energy transition, climate change and governance.

Casa G20, which is operating at Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim, in Ipanema, is already acting as a catalyst for these mobilization events, with varied programming and debates. State departments and agencies, federal institutions and civil society entities have been holding exhibitions and seminars at Casa on topics on the G20 agenda, such as female empowerment, environmental sustainability, social inclusion and culture.
