Casa G20 operates at Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim, in Ipanema, hosted the opening of the third edition of the China Brazil Film Festival on Monday (08.26). During the ceremony, the 14 films to be screened free of charge at the Casa were awarded the Arara Azul Trophy. The program will be held between August 27 and 30.
Creator and director of the event, businessman Arthur Chen pointed out the purpose of the event is to celebrate art and cinema, in addition to strengthening the cultural exchange between the two nations.
– This year we celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relationship between China and Brazil, and this is a significant milestone reflecting half a century of friendship and cooperation between these two rich countries. Cinema is a bridge connecting us, entertaining us, thrilling us and making us reflect on the world we live, ”Chen said.
The event was curated by producer and documentary filmmaker Hélio Pitanga, who emphasized the importance of the event.
– This partnership between China and Brazil is very important to promote this cultural exchange. We want to turn this show into a festival, promote the screening of films and hold debates – he said.
Present at the meeting, the Deputy Undersecretary of the State Department for Culture and Creative Economy of Rio, Cláudia Viana commented the department made it possible for people from cities in the interior to come through the Cultural Passport.
– We brought people from several cities in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro, through our Cultural Passport program, so that they can attend the Exhibition and participate in such an enriching event. It is essential we are able to establish this partnership between Brazil and China through cinema, also we are able to continue other projects, "said Cláudia.
