The show opens this Friday (15), with the participation of Funarj Theater Company fellows and actor Diogo Vilela 

The show "O Pagador de Promessasr" opens this Friday (15) at the Casa de Cultura Lara Alvim (Casa G20) theater in Ipanema. The play is an initiative of the Fundação Anita Mantuano  for the Arts of the State of Rio (Funarj), which has provided 15 scholarships for actors to perform in the production. 

The last rehearsal before the public opening took place on Thursday (14). The screening was attended by actor Diogo Vilela, who plays the lead role in the drama, and the Secretary of Culture for the State of Rio, Danielle Barros 

"Over the last four years, we have worked to make Rio de Janeiro's culture more participatory and present in everyone's lives. And more than just being able to watch a show like Pagador de Promessas, we are also thinking about the new generation of cultural workers, providing scholarships and transforming the reality of the actors," said the Secretary. 

Actor Diogo Vilela returns to the play after 36 years, now playing the main character Zé do Burro. "It felt wonderful. I'm thrilled to be part of the company with Funarj's support, allowing us to stage these national classics," the actor celebrates. As well as playing the lead role, Diogo Vilela acted as curator and workshop teacher, in close contact with the students throughout the seven months. 

Out of a total of 351 applicants, 15 were selected to take part in the project and receive a grant of BRL 1,200 for seven months. During this period, those selected took part in courses with actress and author Marta Metzler and actor Diogo Vilela. Participants had to have a degree in the performing arts at least two years to complete, as well as professional registration (DRT).
